There are 12 million people over 65 years old in the UK today, and our population is ageing substantially. By 2050, this number will be almost 20 million.
We celebrate people living longer, but there is still very limited support for people as they age.
Our goal is to help older people to be independent for longer, with real agency in their lives. This starts with ensuring that people are more financially secure.
Around 3.3 million older people live alone, and families are often busy or living away. Cost of living pressures have eroded the value of State Pensions. Care costs can be exceptionally expensive for families and the lifetime care cap of £86,000 (due to start in October 2025) has now been cancelled.
We believe that older people should be heard and not forgotten; are major contributors to society not a burden; are active members of our future not to be left behind by modern technology.
